Bank of Chambersburg (19th Century): This institution was one of the buildings destroyed in the 1864 burning of Chambersburg, a major incident in the Civil War. The Bank of Chambersburg transitioned to a national charter in 1864, officially becoming the National Bank of Chambersburg with charter number 593. It was originally chartered in 1809. So this wax sealer dates between 1809 and 1864. Amazing it survived the burning of the bank by Confederates. This weighs roughly 7.5 ounces. The last picture shows a reverse image of the seal.
